The base drawing was drawn on site at the instigation of two artist friends who joined me for the afternoon. Shadows were applied by using a grey coloured watercolour paper texture at varying levels of opacity so that you could still read the black linework in the darkest shadows. Colours were also applied in Photoshop to get the right colour intensity. The sky pattern, which can be read as clouds or hills, is a photo I took of a hand painted mural inside the restaurant. The mural is based on a traditional Japanese pattern.
